Introduction

Picki ("we", "our", or "us") is operated by Orca Kobo. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you sign in, we collect:

  • Anonymous accounts: A randomly generated user ID
  • Google Sign-In: Your email address and display name
  • Apple Sign-In: Your Apple ID email (or relay email if you choose to hide it) and display name

User Content

When you save posts to Picki via the Share Extension, we store:

  • The URL of the shared post
  • Post metadata fetched from public sources (title, description, author, thumbnail)
  • Your personal notes and categories

Analytics and Crash Data

We use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to collect anonymous usage data, including:

  • App usage patterns and feature interactions
  • Device type and operating system version
  • Crash reports and performance metrics

This data is not linked to your identity and is used only to improve the app's stability and quality.

Subscription and Billing Data

If you purchase Picki Pro, we receive and store:

  • Your Apple subscription transaction identifier (a non-PII token from Apple)
  • Subscription status (active, expired, in trial), product identifier, and renewal date

We do not receive your payment method, billing address, or any financial information. All payments are handled by Apple.

How We Use Your Information

  • Post Metadata: When you share a link, we fetch publicly available metadata (title, description, thumbnail) to display a preview. We only read the link you share and never access your social media accounts.
  • Storage: Your bookmarks and metadata are stored securely on Supabase servers.
  • Service Improvement: Analytics help us understand how to improve the app.
  • Subscription Entitlement: Subscription transaction data is used solely to determine whether to grant Picki Pro access. We do not use it for marketing or any other purpose.

Subscription and Billing

Picki offers an optional auto-renewing subscription called Picki Pro. All payment processing is handled by Apple — we never see your payment method or financial details.

When you subscribe, Apple notifies our servers (via Apple's App Store Server Notifications) so we can verify the transaction and grant Pro access. We store only the minimum information needed to verify your subscription:

  • Apple-issued transaction and original transaction identifiers
  • Subscription product (monthly or yearly)
  • Status (active, in trial, cancelled, expired) and renewal date

To manage or cancel your subscription, go to your Apple ID account settings (Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on iOS). For refund requests, visit reportaproblem.apple.com.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Supabase: For data storage and authentication
  • Apple App Store (StoreKit): For subscription processing and payment
  • Firebase Analytics: For anonymous usage analytics
  • Firebase Crashlytics: For anonymous crash reporting
  • Google Sign-In / Apple Sign-In: For authentication

Each service has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data.

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:

  • All data transmission is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS
  • Database access is protected by row-level security policies
  • Authentication tokens are securely stored on your device

Data Retention and Deletion

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time through the app settings. Upon deletion:

  • All your saved bookmarks will be permanently deleted
  • All associated metadata, notes, and categories will be removed
  • Your account information will be erased

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. Your data is only shared with the third-party services listed above for the purpose of providing the app's functionality.

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of our business, your data may be transferred to the new owner, who will be bound by the same privacy commitments outlined in this policy.

Children's Privacy

Picki is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email.
